Enamel
I have been exploring ways to increase the textural and tactile qualities of my work, following a project in 2017 with a Doctor of Ophthalmology from the University of Bristol. During the launch seminar, a blind man in the audience couldn't access what I had created in response to microscopic images of degenerative eye conditions. This got me thinking. The enameling project is my way of expanding who can access art; creating tactile, textural, colourful works that can be enjoyed by sighted, partially sighted and non-sighted audiences.
It has also become my avenue to explore the human condition - love, loss, division, alienation. loneliness - amongst other emotional states and exploring circumstances through the medium of enamel and stencil.
