Summer Time antics, and Webshop set to snooze

ree

Well hey hey all!!! We've made it to the summer!!! The rain is currently falling in big, heavy drops as I type, the sky is leaden, and the temperature is bikini-suitable. Give it five minutes for humidity to soar. . .

Yes, it is summer in the UK, with Bristol doing it's warm and rainy thing right now. July has been a bonkers month, with workshops and events aplenty. Highlights definitely include the brilliant Weston Wallz, for Upfest, where I delivered back-to-back lego printing workshops for the weekend. I love seeing how everyone pushes the same technique in such different directions! It always amazes me how much variation there can be with same inks, lego, materials and processes - the only limit is imagination, and that is a wonderful thing.

The most important thing for me to relay in this blog post is that my online shop - The Amy Emporium - will not be despatching orders from 1st August - 1st September. Any orders placed today will be despatched as usual, but beyond that, orders will be fulfilled at the end of August, to arrive early September. I will be hanging out with my family, getting stuck into random adventures and loving their company and laughter. Thanks for your understanding and patience as I prioritise my family this summer month.

Oooh, and exciting things to share - as part of my residency in East harptree with the Artshub, I have been treated to a fantastic photoshoot in my studio. Please see some of the images, taken by the brilliant Meg Lovell. I feel so fortunate to have this incredible space to reflect upon, and develop my work. The residency is one-year-long, which I am thoroughly loving. I cannot wait to see where this takes me.

Back to other news, the most recent Underfall Yard market was fab - thanks to those of you who came to see me and the other traders. It was held over the Harbourfest weekend. The days were full of fun, selling work, sharing stories and enjoying the singing and Harbour festival events. I'll next be at the September Sea Shanty weekend on 20th and 21st September, which promises to be as much fun, if not more!!! I do love a sea shanty. . .

And lastly for now, looking to September, I will be taking on a new, freelance role with the wonderful Royal West of England Art Gallery. I'll be delivering the Happy Mondays school programme, which are sessions enabling access to the arts for SEND schools and PRU's across Bristol. This role will involve creating engagement opportunities that respond to the exhibitions held within the gallery. and delivering workshops to SEND school groups when the RWA is closed to the public.

The only thing left for me to say is, have a brilliant summer, whatever you get up to. See you in September!

Much love,

Amy x
